At some point in their paddling lives, most outrigger enthusiasts will entertain thoughts of racing across the Ka'iwi Channel, after all, the Moloka'i Hoe and the Na Wahine O Ke Kai ( women's race) are historically the World Championships of Outrigger Canoe Changes Racing. For the crews that travel from another country to do this race, the logistics, preparation and planning for a successful crossing, will be as challenging as the great race itself, so why not learn from the experience of those gone before you.
Over the past 19 years of racing this Event, The Mooloolaba Masters/Sen Masters, have won nine Masters’ and four Senior Masters’ Titles, usually in the top 10 or 20 overall out of 100+ canoes, an unparalleled feat. In this Documentary, we follow the Crew in the 2010 Event, as they prepare, race and discuss the formula that made them so successful. I'm sure on viewing, you discover their secrets and follow in their awesome wake.

The Zoke Around the Island Race is a circumnavigation of Hong Kong Island. Held the day after the Dragon Run it is an awesome Outrigger and rowing race. Fantastic, iconic scenery similar to NY Mayors Cup, but in ocean conditions. The Eastern side of the Island had some very challenging waters, Highly recommend this race, it's up there with Hamo, Takapuna and Vaka Eiva as a changeover event.

The second race of the Pacific Ocean Series was held at the Gold Coast City Marina on the Coomera River today with over 90 paddlers attending cover all categories Kayak, Ocean and Surf Ski, OC and SUP. Paddlers arrived at the venue to an array of event and series sponsors from craft manufactures, coaching services and local businesses.
The paddlers course was three laps of a 4km course. As each paddler came around for their second and third laps they were cheered by 20-30 spectators and our DJ “Kirby” calling out first names for encouragement and letting the spectators know who was who.
Two of our younger paddlers took the lead early and where never troubled out front. Joel (K1) and Michael (Think Uno) took it all the way till the last turn with the K1 turning a little faster and sprinting to the win over the last 200m. These paddlers where followed by another two U/21 paddlers Tim Stenlake and Alex Tibbits with Olympian Daniel Collins (40+) coming in 6th. Adan McKane, Matt O’Garey, Jorden Clark and Damien Catran closing out the top 10
This was the first event ever to put K1 paddlers up against the states best Ocean Ski paddlers and I am happy to say that the Ocean Ski paddlers come out on top with 6 paddlers in the top 10.
A big thank you goes out to the SUP paddlers and OC paddlers that attended the Coomera Cup. The Pacific Ocean Series has been designed to be a Ski, SUP and OC event and it is nice to see these categories supporting the series. The Coomera Cup and the Pacific Ocean Series could not be possible without the help of its sponsors and we would like to thank everyone of them for attending todays event, especially the Gold Coast City Marina.
Next race will be at Byron Bay on the 17th July. We look forward in seeing you all there. Labels: ocean racing, standup, SUP, SURF SKI, video

Highly recommend watching our future in the Sport, these kids are amazing. 155Kg canoe and the little ones handle them like Pros. See Junior and People video four down below.
Another awesome close finish, Bruce Taylor has had a string of these over the past year. Tower 22 training buddies Jody Zerbst and Bruce Taylor fought it out the whole way with Jody just edging out a leg cramping Bruce on the line. 3rd place Adam McKane, 4th Matt O'Garey. Sharlene Kelly was too good for Erica Hamp in the Women's Open race.

Ocean Series Race 4 Narrabeen Downwind Challenge 2010
Running from Pittwater to Narrabeen Beach, the fourth race on the Bing Lee LG EPIC Kayaks Oceanseries is a bit more than half of the Epic Kayaks 20 Beaches. It’s a no-brainer of a course: start in flat water, go around Barrenjoey Headland and chase the runs until you see the biggest surf club on the Northern Beaches!

Fantastic Location for a downwind race and boy did Mother nature turn it on. It's not often you get a good downwind within a race and the competitors lapped it up. Awesome close finish once again, nail biting stuff between Jeremy Cotter and Bruce Taylor in the last few K's
A Moffat's Run is always a lot of fun, i've done hundreds of them. Yes this is my home run and the King of the Coast race took this route. What an awesome race between Jeremy Cotter and Ben Allen with one second separating them at the finish-line. That wasn't the only battle though, with Ken Wallace and youngster Corey Hill dicing all the way. Make sure you watch the battles right to the end,it's worth it. Of course i had the "box-seat" following and filming from a Jetski on an adrenaline high. Ya wouldn't be dead for quids.
