Wildlife encounter at National OC1 Titles 2010
No it's not a night out with Purlly at Coff's ... it's something infinitely more beautiful...
Not sure who was more surprised!!!! ... Adrian or the Dolphin. One of the absolute pleasures of Ocean Paddling.
Round 5 of the Epic Kayaks/Bing Lee/LG Ocean Series the King of the Harbour from Long Reef to Manly Wharf. Difficult conditions for most paddlers as the ocean had been churning for a week, lot's of reflected waves but a good underlying swell and wind at your back. Those with good stability made the most of it.
Ocean Series Race 4 Narrabeen Downwind Challenge 2010
Running from Pittwater to Narrabeen Beach, the fourth race on the Bing Lee LG EPIC Kayaks Oceanseries is a bit more than half of the Epic Kayaks 20 Beaches. It’s a no-brainer of a course: start in flat water, go around Barrenjoey Headland and chase the runs until you see the biggest surf club on the Northern Beaches!
Inaugural race of the Pacific Downwind Series in NSW put on by a couple of good mates Kevy and Trev featuring OC1, SUP and Ski paddlers battling it out over three races for a free trip to Hawaii from Sponsors GNC Livewell. Kamanu Composites team member Travis Grant flew in from Qld to take on the locals and had some work to do to snatch away the airfare as did first time SUP paddler Dave Kissane having a year off ski to have some fun. Don't miss the near disaster at Barrenjoey Headland as Top Dog and Dingo Deans do their best to smash their OC1's.

Fantastic Location for a downwind race and boy did Mother nature turn it on. It's not often you get a good downwind within a race and the competitors lapped it up. Awesome close finish once again, nail biting stuff between Jeremy Cotter and Bruce Taylor in the last few K's
A Moffat's Run is always a lot of fun, i've done hundreds of them. Yes this is my home run and the King of the Coast race took this route. What an awesome race between Jeremy Cotter and Ben Allen with one second separating them at the finish-line. That wasn't the only battle though, with Ken Wallace and youngster Corey Hill dicing all the way. Make sure you watch the battles right to the end,it's worth it. Of course i had the "box-seat" following and filming from a Jetski on an adrenaline high. Ya wouldn't be dead for quids.

Bondi - Watsons Bay Ocean Ski Series 2010 - Video
The third race of the Bing Lee LG Ocean Series in association with Epic Kayaks got off to a great start on a picture perfect Spring day. This is always a tough paddle along the rockwalls with the backwash making life difficult for the inexperienced paddlers.
For the third consecutive year, Tim Jacobs has taken out the opening race of the Bing Lee LG Oceanseries, in association with Epic Kayaks, ahead of Nathan Smith and Michael Locke. The competition behind Tim was thick and fierce, boding well for the series to come. Rambo cops a beating in the surfbreak as well, details in the video.
The Noosa Ocean Classic showcases some of the young and not so young talent emerging from SLSQ Clubs. Some of these young athletes are already household names, these are the Ironmen and Ironwomen of the future. Names like Jordan Mercer, Mitch Miller, Nick Kirby, Nick Gale, Dane Windshuttle, Danielle Allen, Alyce Burnett and others.
Be sure to watch the exciting "Dash 4 Cash" format at the end of the video, these young'uns know how to snatch the cash.
No wind/wrong direction combined with a 3-4 meter swell resulted in a two laps out and back course change for Race1 of the Smartline Fenn Cup Downwind series for 2010. The start/finish and re-entry into Fisherman's Beach was always going to be interesting with the large swell and shore break.
The race turned into another Cotter/Allen battle and an interesting run up the finish chute. Also in the mix was Ironman Legend Zane Holmes and Ironwoman Krystyl Smith.

US SurfSki Champs 2010 Doubles Racing - Video
This doubles race must have hurt, a sprint finish between two World Champs and a couple of ex Olympians was painful just to video. ...wow.
San Francisco bay is a unique venue for a surfski race – the wind blows every afternoon funneling through the Golden Gate, and the currents play a huge role in the conditions.
Wow what a fantastic race, so enjoyable to video and the support i had from the WaveChaser people was awesome. Just watch the video, no need for comments from me.
A big thank you to Vineet Buch for making the video possible, someone had to get me there.

Video is only just over 4 mins long and is mostly of the seaway entrance. The jetski video platform was delayed so we missed much of the race, these things happen sometimes.
Still, awesome race, great conditions and everyone had a great time.
Please support the Sponsors of this event they make it all possible.

New Zealand's Premiere Outrigger changes race, held at beautiful Takapuna Beach Auckland. A host of Local and international warriors battle it out for line honors and personal fulfillment in this fabulous International Event.
Held just last weekend. If you enjoy the Hamilton Cup then this is the event for you, great location and awesome local hospitality. Put this one on your “must do” list for next year.
On a personal note, i would like to thank Race Organizer Lance Richards and Committee for allowing me the opportunity to help promote this Race, a true "Jewel in the Crown" of Outrigger paddling in New Zealand, and a must attend event for any International paddler wanting to experience the local culture and hospitality of the locals. Sunshine Coast Paddlers have not had an all craft downwind Ocean race since the Point To Point race in the late '90s. Put together by Kirk Jarrott and Shane Dalziel in just under 4 weeks, it drew paddlers from as far a way as NSW. When the paddling community come together like this it's awesome, what a fun race.

Lemmy Lambert is the co-builder and designer of the Va'a Factory V1 and V6 in Tahiti. An accomplished paddler himself, Lemmy and his team, Taaroa Dubois, Roland Teahui, Steeve Teihotaata and Heialanin Vairaaroa won the Te Aito, Super Aito 2009 V1 races, they also manufacture the V6 for Top Tahitian Teams.
Lemmy was just recently in Australia as coach of a V1 Clinic organized by Erica Hamp, Tracy Horan, the South Queensland Zone AOCRA Committee and Mark Kennedy (Va'a Factory Franchisee in Aust ZuluSurf) I had the pleasure of spending time with Lemmy at the 2 day Clinic and filming him demonstrating basic V1 Technique. The video above is part of that Clinic.
